Course Outcomes:
CO1: Develop hands on skills on the heat treatment of various engineering metallic materials
CO2: Understand the various heat treatment procedure for ferrous and non-ferrous alloys
CO3: Analyse the various heat-treated structure and correlate them with their mechanical properties
Course modules and teaching hours:
MODULE 1 (7 hours): Heat Treatment of Steel: Annealing, Normalizing, Hardening (oil, water, ice)
MODULE 2 (7 hours): Tempering of Steel at various temperature and time
MODULE 3 (4 hours): Hardenability Test –Jominy quench Test
MODULE 4 (4 hours): Age Hardening of Al-alloy
MODULE 5 (5 hours): Carburizing of Steel
MODULE 6 (5 hours): Recrystallization of Cu-alloy
MODULE 7 (4 hours): Sensitization of stainless steel
