Module 1 (1 hour): Introduction
Module 2 (2 hours): Basics of Crystallography
Module 3 (4 hours): X-rays: Generation, Properties, Absorption and Filtering + Tutorials
Module 4 (5 hours): Diffraction of X-rays, Diffraction under non-ideal conditions, Methods of diffraction
Module 5 (5 hours): Intensity of diffracted beams + Tutorials
Module 6 (2 hours): Powder method: Specimen preparation, Selection of radiation, Background radiation
Module 7 (6 hours): Determination of Crystal structure, Solvus line + Tutorials
Module 8 (4 hours): Order-disorder transformation, Chemical analysis, Particle size analysis
Module 9 (6 hours): Stereographic projections; Determination of texture + Tutorials
Module 10 (3 hours): Electron microscopy: General principles, Electron – specimen interaction, Electron optics
Module 11 (5 hours): TEM: Image formation scheme, Reciprocal lattice, Electron diffraction, specimen preparation
Module 12 (3 hours): SEM: Signal generation, modes of operation, specimen preparation, EDAX
Module 13 (4 hours): EPMA, FIM, STM
