Course Outcomes: 

CO1: A student should know the practical equipment, should know how to make a moulding sand from its ingredients and methods used in sand-mould testing
CO2: A student should know how to quickly test the prepared moulding sand
CO3: A student should know how to pour liquid metals like aluminium
CO4: A student should be know how to design, prepare and check a mould and a casting

Course modules and teaching hours: 

MODULE 1 (12 hours): Sand testing:
1) Clay content and moisture content determination, of moulding sand
2) Air permeability of moulding sand and shatter index
3) Compression and shear testing of rammed moulding sand and hardness testing
4) Sieve analysis and shape analysis of dry sand

MODULE 2 (18 hours): Mould preparation of varieties of patterns, including demonstration
